But I am meticulous about matching up all socks with their proper mates - I have many pairs of black dress socks that are "identical" in that they're all from the same maker and are ostensibly in the same style, but there are inevitably slight differences between pairs, and, more obviously, greater visible wear (at heel and ball of foot, mostly) in the older pairs.
